Lisa Nicole Wilkerson
Recipient of the 2012 Fred and Adele Astaire Award as “Outstanding Female Dancer in a Broadway Show, for her role in the highly acclaimed Broadway revival of The Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess, Lisa Nicole Wilkerson is a powerful, fearless quadruple-threat, who believes in the necessity of giving back.

Lisa is a New York-based working actor, singer, dancer, model and motivational speaker, who often makes time to conduct workshops to empower budding artists, youth and young adults with life skills to help them find their individual voices and to feel good about themselves. She reminds them that life is about choices, and that they can be whatever they choose to be through perseverance and determination.

She is a living example of how anything is possible. Her original career goal was to be a television news anchor, as she holds a B.S. in journalism from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism. To Lisa, the thread that connects each of those career paths is the art of communicating, which she deeply respects.

Lisa most recently played Anna Gordy in Broadway's smash hit "Motown The Musical." Prior to that, she served as dance captain and fight captain in The Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess, winner of the 2012 Tony Award for Best Musical Revival, starring Audra McDonald, Norm Lewis and David Alan Grier. Her performance career includes Broadway’s The Lion King, national tours of The Lion King (Nala) and Mamma Mia! (Ali), and off-Broadway productions of River Deep: Tribute to Tina Turner at Playwright’s Horizons, Once on This Island (TiMoune) at The Gallery Players, and Purlie, a City Center ENCORES! production starring Blaire Underwood and Anika Noni Rose. She’s, also, had the pleasure of working with Ronald K. Brown, Mercedes Ellington, Andre DeShields, Hinton Battle, Tonya Pinkins and Loretta Devine.

Her television and film highlights include the late night show circuit -- David Letterman, Jimmy Fallon, Jay Leno -- early morning and afternoon tv on “The Today Show” and “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” as well as “The Tony Awards” ’08 and ’12 and Unconditional Love.

At the historic Apollo Theater, Lisa served as host and storyteller for Opportunity Nation’s November 2011 launch. For this national bi-partisan initiative that promotes opportunity and social mobility in America, she is, also, a member of its Leadership Council. This is an esteemed group of diverse, iconic leaders, including, President Barack Obama former advisor, the Honorable Melody Barnes, NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg, entertainment powerhouse Russell Simmons and media mogul Arianna Huffington, who stand in support of the organization’s goals.

Lisa is a co-founder of Broadway in South Africa (BSA), a not-for-profit organization aimed at providing cross-cultural exchange between youth in need and artists who seek to use their talents for change. From BSA’s inception in 2008 until 2011, she helped create the organization’s curriculum and performed as dance teacher. For four years, Lisa served as BSA’s Communications Director and garnered over one million media impressions in US and South African media outlets -- in its first year alone.
